Tonight I am going to see Solome at the Metropolitan Opera House! OooLaaLaa!

Salome is an opera in one act by Richard Strauss based on Hedwig Lachmann’s German translation of the French play Salomé by Oscar Wilde. It is now better known for the more shocking final scene where Salome makes necrophilic love to the severed head of John the Baptist. The opera is famous for its Dance of the Seven Veils.

Dan and I were at the Met yesterday morning for the dress rehearsal for Doctor Atomic. I was reading about the role of Salome. She has to dance for 9 minutes and then do a long monologue. Talk about physically demanding! How was it?
