Thanks to the University of Saskatchewan’s extremely thorough archive of gay and lesbian culture I bring to you — Ambisextrous Vaudeville. This archive features brilliant sheet music covers along with the most famous drag personas in British and American Vaudeville. I posted the best of the fellahs—women dressed as dandies.

Victoria Woodhull wasn’t gay, but she’s my fave. She didn’t always wear men’s clothing, but she cut her hair short, sometimes wore pants, and traded on Wall Street!

Owww Wee! I love that hair and crumpled knot.

  3. Bree Says:

Yay Saskatchewan!! Who knew that gay and lesbian culture would be their strong suit?? Mysterious yet gratifying.

  4. kellyr Says:

Yeah, Saskatchewan, who knew?!?!?!? I love it.
