William Addison Dwiggins. Designer, typographer, illustrator, puppeteer. One of my favorite designers & artists. You may visit his marvelous marionettes at the Boston Public Library housed in the Rare Book rooms.

well now THIS really reminds me of a song!

    “deep inside the BPL
is a living place call hell!
    Where puppets have it out
    in a primordial evil bout.”

Nice poem…the puppets, and everything in the display are really GENIUS…I say this as a distant relative and total fan of WAD…

I sometimes wish the display at the BPL could be a traveling exhibit. Say, at the Cooper Hewitt…I wish more people could see these marionettes in person. Hopefully, some day.
